Solace Psychology & Wellness

Meet Danielle

DANIELLE NICHOLSON

M.C., B.SC., REGISTERED PROVISIONAL PSYCHOLOGIST

Hello, my name is Danielle, and I am a  Registered Provisional Psychologist at Solace Psychology & Wellness. I obtained my Master’s of Counselling Psychology at the City University of Seattle and I also hold a Bachelor of Science with a Specialization in Psychology from the University of Alberta.

As a therapist, I offer an empathetic, strength-based and collaborative approach. I have spent the last 8 years therapeutically supporting children and adults diagnosed with developmental and intellectual disabilities. These roles have further inspired my counselling practice to emphasize the importance of creating an accepting and non-judgmental environment for clients of all ages, abilities, identities, and cultures. This space and inclusive approach allow clients to explore and develop their strengths and resiliency.

Counselling for Children, Teens & families

therapy edmonton

I have gained years of invaluable experience working with children diagnosed with neurodevelopmental disorders such as Autism Spectrum Disorder, Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder, Motor Disorders and Learning Disorders. Working with this population has motivated me to provide early intervention for children and families influenced by similar concerns. Early intervention may include family sessions, parenting support, emotional regulation practice, psychoeducation, play therapy, and art-based play. Moreover, I also enjoy supporting children and teens who are struggling with anxiety, grief, separation/divorce concerns, self-esteem, self-harm and gender identity. I enjoy creating a fun and safe environment for children and adolescents filled with activities, playfulness and laughter.

I believe in using a collaborative and integrative approach, drawing from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy, Narrative Therapy, Self-Compassion and Mindfulness-Based therapy. I use a tailored approach depending on each client’s goals and concerns. I work with a variety of concerns, with specific interests including depression, anxiety, burnout, suicidal ideation, self-esteem and trauma-related concerns.
